Payroll Specialist
Job Description
Pay Rate: $26-$36/hr
Benefits: Health, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO - eligible when hired on
Location: Oakdale, CA
Requirements of the Payroll Specialist:?
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- At least 2 years’ experience performing payroll operations.
- Intermediate knowledge of applicable payroll laws, rules, and regulations, including those related to garnishments.
- Basic knowledge of human resource and labor laws, rules and regulations.
- Effective social skills to deal with employees on matters of a confidential or sensitive nature with discretion.
- Proficient level of interpersonal skills to communicate, empathize and reason with personnel.
Responsibilities of the Payroll Specialist:?
- Ensure all employees are paid correctly and on time.
- Manage tax filings and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Monitor employee hours, overtime, and attendance.
- Ensure time and attendance data is accurately reflected in payroll calculations.
- Handle employee benefits enrollment and changes.
- Ensure benefits deductions are accurately processed.
- Create various payroll reports for management and compliance purposes.
- Use reporting tools to analyze payroll data and identify trends or discrepancies.
- Manage employee leave balances and ensuring accurate recording of time off.
- Ensure time off policies are adhered to and properly documented.
- Address employee questions related to payroll, benefits, and time off.
- Work closely with HR, finance, and IT departments to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Process new hire/rehires/terminations/Leave of Absence/employee transfers/FLSA status.
- Performs routine clerical duties such as copying, faxing, and ordering and distributing supplies.
