Group Support Coordinator - Non-Profit
Location: Stanislaus County
Pay: $28–$32/hour
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. We are seeking a compassionate and organized Group Support Coordinator to serve as lead staff during peer-support groups, develop expressive arts activities, and support community outreach efforts. This role combines hands-on facilitation, creative program support, and relationship-building with families, volunteers, and community partners. Key Responsibilities
Group Support
- Act as lead staff in school groups, evening peer-support groups, and specialized Tender Hearts groups for children and teens with special needs.
- Facilitate and support peer groups for children, teens, and families, following trauma-informed practices.
- Oversee staff and volunteer training modules for specialized groups.
- Provide offsite support for critical incidents as needed.
- Ensure safe group environments, including mandated reporting and end-of-day security.
Expressive Arts Support
- Develop and implement art-based activities (“art invitations”) to encourage healthy grief expression.
- Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and interns to prepare and share art resources.
- Tailor expressive arts for specialized groups and ensure supplies are ready for both school and onsite programs.
Outreach Coordination
- Support and occasionally lead tours, training sessions, and community presentations.
- Build and maintain relationships with referral sources, schools, and community partners.
- Track outreach activities, referrals, and service inquiries in the Planning Center database.
- Represent the program at community events to expand awareness and support.
- Master’s degree in psychology, social sciences, public health, or related field (candidates currently pursuing a master’s may be considered).
- At least 1–2 years of experience in a helping-related role, ideally in mental health, schools, or nonprofits working with children or adolescents.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with data software a plus.
- Strong organizational, documentation, and program management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable with public speaking and representing the organization.
- Empathy and emotional intelligence to connect with grieving children, teens, families, and volunteers.
- Ability to adapt to different age groups and diverse populations (ages 6–80).
- Conflict resolution and coaching skills to support healthy volunteer and group dynamics.
- Outgoing and relationship-oriented, with a warm, approachable demeanor.
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred, but not required.
- Mix of school groups, evening groups (up to 2 evenings per week), and occasional weekends for events or training.
- Hands-on, client-facing role with opportunities to use creativity through expressive arts.
- Collaboration with staff, volunteers, and community partners to strengthen group programs.
- Paid Holidays: Over 10 observed annually, including Thanksgiving (2 days) and Christmas.
