Payroll Specialist

Salary: $24.00 - $29.00

Location: Stockton
Job Duties:
- Prepare and process payroll for hourly, salaried, and union workers, accurately calculating wages, deductions, and benefits.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state prevailing wage laws, union agreements, and other industry-specific regulations to ensure compliance.
- Collaborate with project managers to accurately track and report job-specific labor hours, job classifications, and other relevant data.
- Generate certified payroll reports and documentation required for government agencies, contractors, and auditors.
- Verify accuracy of timesheets, benefits, and deductions, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Manage employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and deductions, providing excellent customer service and resolving issues promptly.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll-related tax filings.
- Monitor changes in labor laws and regulations, proactively adjusting payroll practices to remain compliant.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate payroll records and documentation.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information and payroll data.
- Payroll experience required.
- Certified Payroll experience preferred.
- Familiarity with construction-specific payroll software and tools.
- Understanding of prevailing wage laws, union contracts, and other industry-specific regulations preferred.
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
- High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
