Our local client is joining forces with AVAILABILITY Professional Staffing in search of an experienced Payroll Specialist.  We're seeking a talented & motivated team member to add to their growing company. This position is a temp to hire opportunity! 

Salary: $24.00 - $29.00
Benefits: Health, 401k, PTO - eligible when hired on
Location: Stockton


Job Duties:
  • Prepare and process payroll for hourly, salaried, and union workers, accurately calculating wages, deductions, and benefits.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of federal and state prevailing wage laws, union agreements, and other industry-specific regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Collaborate with project managers to accurately track and report job-specific labor hours, job classifications, and other relevant data.
  • Generate certified payroll reports and documentation required for government agencies, contractors, and auditors.
  • Verify accuracy of timesheets, benefits, and deductions, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Manage employee inquiries related to payroll, benefits, and deductions, providing excellent customer service and resolving issues promptly.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll-related tax filings.
  • Monitor changes in labor laws and regulations, proactively adjusting payroll practices to remain compliant.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing accurate payroll records and documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information and payroll data.
Qualifications
  • Payroll experience required.
  • Certified Payroll experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with construction-specific payroll software and tools.
  • Understanding of prevailing wage laws, union contracts, and other industry-specific regulations preferred.
  • Excellent mathematical and analytical skills, with high attention to detail.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
