Bookkeeper – Production Liaison
Direct Hire
Modesto, CA
Comp: $25-$30/hr
Shift: Mon-Fri 32-40 hrs per week
We are seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage job costing and ensure accurate tracking of labor and materials in a largely manual/paper-based system. This role involves close collaboration with the sales and purchasing departments to ensure precise invoicing of materials to distributors based on quantity and size specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain daily financial transactions such as AR and AP.
- Maintain manual records to track and allocate labor and materials for specific jobs or projects.
- Reconcile job cost data and identify discrepancies in labor or material costs.
- Track employee timecards and allocate labor hours to corresponding jobs.
- Track material usage, assigning costs based on job requirements for quantity and size.
- Collaborate with the sales and purchasing teams to prepare and finalize accurate invoices for distributors.
- Verify material orders against job records to ensure proper billing and inventory tracking.
- Compile job cost reports, including profitability analysis and updates for management.
- Maintain manual ledgers for accounts payable, receivable, and general ledger entries related to job costs.
- Assist with audits by organizing and providing relevant paper-based documentation.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of bookkeeping, accounting assistant/clerk experience with a focus on job costing or project accounting preferred.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and comfortable in manual record-keeping systems.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills in managing paper-based records.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and basic accounting tools.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with sales, purchasing, and management teams.
- Experience in industries requiring manual tracking of job costs, such as manufacturing, construction, or distribution, is preferred.
